Australian packaging billionaire Anthony Pratt has once again swapped the board room for the red carpet as he attended the Met Gala in New York today.
The 65-year-old, who is known as the “The Cardboard King” in Australia, made a bold fashion statement as he walked the famous steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for the yearly fashion event.
Just like last year, Pratt was very on-brand as he promoted recycling, wearing a predominantly green suit with the words “100% Recycled” printed all over.
He capped off his look with a green felt bowler hat and black sneakers.
It’s no secret that the businessman, who reportedly has a staggering personal fortune of $23 billion, has been on a mission to increase sustainability within Australia’s packaging industry.
Last July, the chairman of Australian-based packaging company Visy announced it is investing more than $2 billion to transform recycling and remanufacturing.
His announcement came two months after he made his stance loud and clear at the Met Gala that year, rocking up to the event wearing a neon pink top coat embroidered with the recycling logo.
Other guests at this year’s Met Gala stuck to the ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ theme, with stars such as actor Colman Domingo and actress Joey King also stepping out in bold fashion looks.
Met Galas aside, Pratt is well known for throwing his own lavish parties.
In February 2024, he flew US pop star Katy Perry to his historic Melbourne mansion Raheen to perform in front of 220 guests – and he paid her a cool $1.5 million.
Then last December, Pratt threw a lavish soiree for himself at the 5-star Mandarin Oriental hotel to mark his move from Melbourne to New York City.
The star-studded guest list featured the likes of Keith Urban and Chris Rock.
