The Corrs star ‘humiliated’ after being refused entry onto flight

One of the stars of 90s group The Corrs, who recently toured Australia, has taken to social media to share her outrage.

One of the members of legendary 90s group The Corrs has taken to social media to claim they were left “humiliated” after being “rejected” from getting on a flight.

Sharon Corr, 54, had planned to fly from Madrid to Dublin for rehearsals ahead of The Corrs’ upcoming tour.

The star, who was recently in Australia performing with her group, claimed on Instagram that she was turned away because she had her violin with her and staff wouldn’t allow her to bring it on the plane.

As a result, after spending seven hours at the airport, Corr claims she was forced to return home.

“Today I was booked on a Ryanair flight. I got up at 6 in the morning. I was not allowed on the flight because I had my violin.”

“I was in the airport for 7 hours. I had to return home after searching for my checked in bags. Humiliated, angry, then crying as only a good woman can do. Why was I going to Dublin? My home turf, to rehearse, to go on tour! I’m beyond disappointed. Michael O’Leary [CEO of Ryanair] shame on you.”

However, despite the star’s claims, a spokesperson for the airline told Mail Online that Corr’s violin exceeded the cabin bag dimensions and that was why she was refused entry onto the flight.

“This passenger was not refused travel from Madrid to Dublin,” they shared.

“This passenger’s violin exceeded the cabin bag dimensions permitted for her flight, and therefore was required to pay a standard gate baggage fee to place it in the hold of the aircraft. This passenger refused to pay the standard fee and instead chose not to travel on this flight.”

The violinist relocated to Madrid with her husband Gavin Bonnar and their two children Cal, 18, and Flori, 16, in 2018. However, just year later, the pair ended up splitting.

Sharon and The Corrs are busy preparing for a series of live dates this summer in the UK, which will see them perform at Hyde Park in London, supporting Shania Twain, before heading to more festival dates in Spain.
