Crown Princess Mary was back at Sydney Airport days after she was seen arriving in Australia for a private holiday.

The Australian-born Danish royal was seen walking through the domestic terminal with her two youngest children, 12-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, with the trio seemingly boarding a flight to her native Tasmania, where they will spend the festive season with her family.

Before boarding, 51-year-old Mary was spotted browsing the airport newsagency, reportedly picking up a copy of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s part memoir, part self-help book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life.

While Mary’s best friend Amber Petty accompanied the trio and their entourage, the princess' husband Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, was nowhere to be seen.

The prince is currently attending the climate conference COP 28 in Dubai with his mother, Queen Margrethe II. It is believed he will join Mary next week with their eldest children, Prince Christian, 18, and Princess Isabella, 16.

Mary and her family also spent Christmas in Tasmania last year, with the royal sharing a sweet photo on Instagram to wish followers a happy holiday season.

“Merry Christmas from ‘Down Under’ – where we celebrate Christmas in Tasmania,” she captioned the photo at the time. “Here it is neither frostbite nor just trees but summer and warm weather.”

The family’s latest trip comes amid scandalous reports that Prince Frederik is having an affair with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova after photographs of them out and about together emerged.

Headlines were made after the duo reportedly spent the day and night exploring Madrid last month, where they wandered around the city’s El Retiro park, enjoyed a Picasso exhibit and went out for dinner.

While a spokesman for the palace told Danish publication B.T. that they “do not comment on rumours of insinuations”, Casanova has hit back at the speculation.

“I categorically deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederik and me,” she said in a statement.

“Any statement of this type not only completely lacks the truth but also misrepresents the facts in a malicious manner.

“This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honour, truth and privacy.”

Princess Mary grew up as Mary Donaldson in Tasmania before moving to Sydney, where she would meet Prince Frederik at the Slip Inn pub in the city during the 2000 Olympics. At the time, she was working as an account manager for an advertising agency.

When their romance became public, she eventually moved to Copenhagen in 2002, and the Danish royal family officially announced their engagement in September 2003. They were married the following year.
