Prince William and his wife Catherine are still “furious” with Prince Harry over his explosive claim about a physical confrontation in which the younger brother was “knocked to the floor”.
Private conversations with Palace insiders have revealed the Prince and Princess of Wales are still reeling from the allegation in Prince Harry’s explosive tell-all memoir Spare, a leading royal author said.
In his autobiography, Prince Harry claimed he was physically attacked by Prince William in a heated argument as the brothers’ relationship disintegrated over his marriage to Meghan Markle.
Tom Quinn, author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, told The Express: “I interviewed people that worked for Harry and Meghan when they were in England.
“I also interviewed people that worked for Kate and William. They say that privately there’s a lot more anger than there is publicly.
“William and Kate are especially furious about the accusation that William physically assaulted Harry.”
“Brothers fight all the time. They get on really well at the same time.”
Mr Quinn said Prince William was angry that the brothers’ difficulties had been aired in public.
The argument was revealed to the world last January when Prince Harry’s explosive memoir Spare was released.
Recounting the tense exchange at his former home in the grounds of London’s Kensington Palace in 2019, Prince Harry claimed Prince William called Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”.
The confrontation then turned physical, Prince Harry wrote, when Prince William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.
The fight left the younger brother with a visible injury to his back, Prince Harry claimed in his book.
The Duke’s autobiography portrays Princess Catherine in a negative light, with Prince Harry claiming she made Meghan cry over bridesmaids dresses ahead of their 2018 wedding.
Prince Harry also partially blamed Prince William and Catherine for his ill-judged decision to wear a Nazi costume to a dress-up party in 2005.
The Duke claimed the Prince and Princess of Wales “howled” with laughter at his controversial costume choice.
