Prince Harry’s ‘warning’ to King Charles over his daughter, Lili

The Duke of Sussex has reportedly issued a blunt “warning” to his father about his daughter amid his fly-in-fly-out visit to the UK.

Prince Harry told his father to tone down his extravagant gift for Lilibet, according to reports.

Prince Harry reportedly “warned” his father about what he could buy his granddaughter for her second birthday earlier this month.

According to OK! Magazine UK, King Charles was planning on giving two-year-old Lilibet Diana a lavish gift for her June 4 birthday, but Harry told him to buy something “less extravagant”.

A source told the publication that Charles “had his aides looking at custom-made cubby houses, similar to what the queen and Princess Margaret had when they were girls.”

The insider added: “He wants to give Lili something she will use and be hers. She’ll remember it forever – it’s going to be the ultimate surprise.”

However, following Harry’s instructions, it’s unclear what the King ended up choosing for his young granddaughter, who is seventh in line to the throne.

Details about Lili’s party have remained tightly under wraps, although Harry’s lawyer pointed out in a London court at the phone hacking trial on Monday that he was unavailable to testify that day after taking a later flight from LA in order to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.

It’s believed her party took place at Harry and Meghan’s $21 million home in Montecito.

Despite reports about the King’s private plans for Lili’s gift, he – along with other senior members of the royal family – noticeably chose not to share a public birthday tribute on Twitter, as is usually the custom.

A royal source told OK! Magazine it was because they “don’t mark the birthdays of non-working members”.

“They, of course, wish Lilibet a very happy birthday, but nothing will be put out on any channels,” the insider claimed.

It marks a different policy to that of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who honoured her great-granddaughter with a Twitter post for her first birthday last June.

“Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!” the Queen shared via her official social media account at the time.

However since then, the relationship between Harry and Meghan and his family has plunged to its lowest point yet following the release of their Netflix docu-series and his tell-all memoir, Spare.
