Prince Harry announces he’s returning to London in September

The Duke of Sussex is set to return to the U.K. on the eve of the anniversary of the Queen’s death, sparking questions over whether he’ll reunite with the royals.

Prince Harry's peace talks face a significant setback

Prince Harry will return to the U.K. in two weeks, where he’s attending an event on the eve of the anniversary of the Queen’s death.

The Duke of Sussex, 38, shared that he would be attending the WellChild Awards, of which he’s a patron, in London on September 7. There was no mention of Meghan Markle in the statement.

“For nearly 20 years, WellChild has been transforming the lives of children and young people across the U.K., providing critical care that prioritises the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of these individuals and their families,” Harry said in a statement released Wednesday, local time.

“The courage and strength embodied by these young people — and the tireless devotion of those who support them — never cease to inspire me. I’m honoured to attend this year’s awards ceremony and celebrate their incredible work.”

While it’s not known if Meghan, 41, will join Harry in London, the couple are travelling to Germany together for the Invictus Games, which kicks off September 9.

This leaves little room for Harry to reunite with the royal family, given his father King Charles III is currently staying in Balmoral, Scotland.

The Duke’s schedule appears to be free on September 8 – which marks exactly one year on from the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. But a royal insider told The Mirror Harry had no plans to see his family.

“While some may suggest it would be good order for the family to settle their differences, perhaps even in the late queen’s memory, things are a long way off,” a source told the publication.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Harry was eager to meet with Charles and William for “peace talks”, with Harry expected to stop over again in the UK on September 17 on his way home to California.

But according to US website the Daily Beast, Charles and William were against the idea.

“Charles won’t be seeing Harry and nor will William. No chance. He feels utterly betrayed by what Harry wrote about him in the book and said about him on Netflix,” a source close to the Price of Wales told the publication.

Harry hasn’t seen since his father since the coronation in May, and even then, it was reported he spent no time with Charles or his brother Prince William during the brief trip.

Harry and Meghan previously attended the WellChild Awards side-by-side in 2018 and 2019. They also planned to attend last year, however, they were forced to withdraw their attendance following news of the Queen’s death.

Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla will reportedly be honouring the late Queen privately at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where the late Majesty died.

William, Prince of Wales and wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, are expected to visit Wales on September 8, where they’ll stop by St David’s Cathedral.

The couple will pay homage to the late Queen on the day, however they aren’t expected to make a speech.

Instead, they’ll reportedly will be shown around the ancient church, which the Queen visited several times during her 70-year reign.
