Australia’s Crown Princess Mary sent an emphatic message that she’s standing by Crown Prince Frederik this Christmas.

Amid unconfirmed speculation of a royal affair, the Danish palace released a festive video showing the smiling couple decorating a giant tree with their four children.

Set to the tune of Santa Claus is Coming to Town, a laughing Princess Mary was dressed in a Christmas sweater as Frank Sinatra sings “he’s going to find out who’s naughty and nice”.

Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova denied rumours of an affair after pictures of her with Prince Frederik, published in Spanish magazine Hola!, rocked the Danish royals and put their 19-year marriage under the spotlight.

While the Danish royals have not commented on the images while forging ahead with royal duties, this week’s Instagram video marks a dramatic shift in the palace-choreographed appearances of the couple from formal and socialite duties to familial bliss from within the palace.

The two were joined in the video by their four children, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

“Christmas greetings from the Crown Prince family, who recently decorated the family Christmas tree in the Hall of Knights in Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg,” reads the caption.

The Danish royal family will spend Christmas with Queen Margrethe, 83, who will travel to Marselisborg Palace in Aarhus on December 20.

They will be joined by Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, and their two youngest children, Count Henrik and Countess Athena, who travel from the US to Denmark for the holidays.

Older child Count Nikolai, meanwhile, is understood to be spending Christmas in Australia, where he is studying at the University of Technology in Sydney.

While the Danish royal family has remained tight-lipped on speculation of an extramarital affair, the alleged other woman issued a categorical denial to the magazine that first published the claims.

“I flatly deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederick and me. Any statement of this type is not only completely untrue but also distorts the facts in a malicious manner,” the statement said.

“This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honour, truth and privacy.”
