Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: King Charles made ‘terrible mistake’ with royal titles, says author Tom Bower

King Charles may live to regret a key move he made over the children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a royal expert says.

King Charles made 'terrible mistake' granting Sussex children titles

King Charles made a “terrible mistake” in giving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children royal titles, an expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ended years of speculation at their daughter’s christening last March when they revealed that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are sixth and seventh in line to the throne, would have royal titles.

Tom Bower, author of Revenge: Megan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, said King Charles should never have allowed the move, which could potentially embarrass the monarchy in the future.

“Harry and Meghan have undermined the monarchy and Charles has made a terrible mistake,” he told The Express.

“He should have cut them off straight away. He should never have allowed their children to be made a prince and princess.”

Mr Bower said Prince Harry “shouldn’t have been invited” to the coronation and that the monarchy should have completely cut the Sussexes off after their shock move to California.

It comes amid reports that King Charles is looking to end the feud with his youngest son.

The monarch hopes to reconcile with Prince Harry for “strategic” reasons, according to a palace insider.

A staff member told The Daily Beast: “Ultimately Charles has not just a personal but also a strategic need to resolve the issue.

“It’s not sustainable for the king, who is the national symbol of unity, to be on such bad terms with his son.”

Queen Camilla is said to be an important figure in healing the relationship between father and son, despite being labelled a “wicked stepmother” in Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare.

“The division between state and family is sacrosanct so Camilla will be pivotal in all this,” the source claimed.

“She is the only one who will be in a position to advise him who he will listen to.”
