King Charles III’s Coronation outfit may have been worth a fortune, but the attire of the well-heeled guests pulled just as much focus.

Vogue Australia’s Elle Halliwell puts her regal lens over what they wore and collated this top 11.

Wearing Australian designer Karen Gee and a pillbox hat by Sydney milliner Catherine Kelly, Anthony Albanese’s partner looked chic and understated. The powder blue dress and hat, which featured a silk screen print created by Injalak women from West Arnhem Land.

Catherine, Princess of Wales

There was a sense of deja vu as the Princess of Wales entered the Abbey in a white Alexander McQueen dress, having done so 13 years prior for her wedding to Prince William. While less matrimonial, the silver embellished gown was no less spectacular, and her choice of headpiece – a Grecian-like wreath design by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen – was a beautiful complement.

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau

Perhaps it was her friendly Canadian demeanour, but first lady Sophie Grégoire Trudeau radiated beauty in this dusty pink dress. It was sophisticated and stylish.

Jill Biden

The US first lady opted for a simple stiff blue straw fascinator and matching powder blue knee-skimming ensemble, accessorising with nude pumps and a matching clutch. She could have done without the gloves, which were a slightly – but distractingly different – shade of blue to her outfit.

Julie Bishop

The former foreign minister, who attended the event in her capacity as chair of the Prince’s Trust Australia, flew the flag for Australian fashion in the best way, pairing an ivory floral applique Zimmermann dress with a headpiece by Sydney milliner Nerida Winter.

Katy Perry

The singer and Coronation concert headliner paid tribute to one of Britain’s most iconic names in fashion, the late Vivienne Westwood, wearing a pale pink ensemble and choker by the designer.

Emma Thompson

One of the few famous guests who opted out of a headpiece, the British actor chose a bold red floral Emilia Wickstead coat over a simple black dress. Her Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) medal added the right amount of sparkle, too.

Queen Letizia of Spain

Wearing one of the more striking hats of the day, the wife of King Felipe VI again proved why she’s one of the world’s most chic royals. A pink skirt suit and matching pumps, pink box clutch and beige leather gloves worked back beautifully with her oversized straw hat.

Pretty Yende

The South African opera singer performed at the coronation wearing an incredible canary yellow gown by London designer Stéphane Rolland and yellow and white diamond necklace and earrings from jewellery house Graff.

Mary, Princess of Denmark

The Australian-born royal’s deep purple dress, flocked headband and pump ensemble oozed royal elegance. The addition of turquoise brooch and earrings worked surprisingly well, too.

Queen Rania of Jordan

A long-sleeved dress in the palest of yellows proved a stunning choice for the royal, who accessorised with a matching hat, white pumps and a textured clutch.

Anne, Princess Royal

There was no missing the Princess Royal at the procession. She looked resplendent in her military uniform, fulfilling her role as Colonel of the Blues and Royals in the Household Cavalry regiment and the King’s Gold-Stick-in-Waiting.
