Prince Harry says he ‘won’t bring’ Meghan Markle back to UK over safety fears

Prince Harry has revealed the terrifying reason he won’t bring his wife Meghan Markle back to the UK in a new sit-down interview.

Prince Harry has revealed his concerns about bringing his wife Meghan Markle back to the UK, fearing potential threats of an acid or knife attack.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, spoke about his fears for his family during a new interview for ITV’s documentary Tabloids on Trial.

He revealed “it only takes one lone actor [who reads negative stories about Harry and Meghan in the press] with a knife or acid.”

When asked if he’s seeking attention through the court battles, he said: “There is more than enough attention on me and my wife anyway.

“There was … they pushed me too far. It got to a point where you’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t. They pushed me too far. You are damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

“I don’t think there’s anybody else in the world that is better suited and placed to be able to see this through than myself. It’s still dangerous. And all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff, to act on what they have read.”

“And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is … these are things that are a genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”

Meghan has not returned to the UK since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

She is currently in the midst of a busy year, and will soon launch her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.

So far she has teased the brand by sending 50 jams to friends and influencers, including Kardashian matriarch, Kris Jenner.

Meghan has also wrapped up filming on her next Netflix show, which is a cooking program.

 PRINCESS DIANA WAS PAINTED AS PARANOID BY PRESS

Prince Harry opened up about his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and her experience of phone hacking.

Harry won a legal battle against the tabloid press last December after it was found that he had been a victim of phone hacking.

“I did feel vindicated. Phone hacking has been going on for a long time. The defendants claim for it all to be historical.

“Well, there’s a huge amount coming to light now that the British public especially simply have no idea about.”

Speaking about whether the hacking made him paranoid he said: “I think paranoia is a very interesting word because yes, then it could be paranoia, but then when you’re vindicated it proves that you weren’t being paranoid. You know, same with my mother.

“You know, there is evidence to suggest that she was being hacked in the mid-nineties, probably one of the first people to be hacked and yet still today, the press, the tabloid press very much enjoy painting her as being paranoid.

“But she wasn’t paranoid, she was absolutely right about what was happening to her. And she’s not around today to find out the truth.”

He also said in the interview he believes his late mother “motivates” him to keep up the fight.

HARRY REVEALS CAUSE OF ROYAL RIFT

Prince Harry has told how his move to take on the British tabloid newspapers in the courts was a “central piece” in his long-running “rift” with the royal family.

When asked by reporter Rebecca Barry his thoughts on King Charles and Prince William choosing not to join his fight, Prince Harry admitted it was a contributing factor to their “rift”.

“I think everything that’s played out has shown people what the truth of the matter is,” he said.

“For me, the mission continues, but it has, it has, yes, it’s caused, as you say, part of a rift.”

Prince Harry has previously detailed his anger over what he described as the royal family’s failure to take on the press in his tell-all memoir, Spare.

Previously, when the Sussexes arrived at St Paul’s Cathedral in London in 2022 for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, they received a notable booing sound from the crowd of onlookers.

The Duchess of Sussex’s popularity has taken a significant hit with a new poll unveiling she’s not popular among Britons.

The Ipsos poll, marking the first anniversary of King Charles’ Coronation, showed a whopping 75 per cent of British people are not fans of Meghan.

Prince Harry has also been hit by the results, languishing near the bottom of the popularity table with only 31 per cent approval rating.

But the poll also shows that couple seems to resonate more with younger generations – with Markle boasting 42 per cent strike rate among 18 to 34-year-olds.

Prince Harry last visited the UK in May for an Invictus Games event, leaving his wife at home in California with the couple’s two children.

The Duke of Sussex spent three nights in London but didn’t see his cancer-stricken dad King Charles or estranged brother Prince William.

Prince Harry claimed the King was “too busy” to meet.

“It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program,” a Sussex spokesman said.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Meghan, however, is likely to join her husband when he visits the UK in 2027 for the Invictus Games, which are being held In Birmingham.

The former actress has consistently joined her husband at every Invictus Games while they have been together after first appearing at the 2017 Toronto games when their relationship became public.
