Buckingham Palace says King Charles’ cancer treatment will continue in 2025

Buckingham Palace has provided an update about the King’s treatment ahead of he and Queen Camilla’s last major public engagement before Christmas.

Palace gives an update on King Charles’ cancer treatment

King Charles will receive cancer treatment in 2025 as his health battle continues.

Palace sources confirmed on Friday the King’s health recovery is not yet over but they remained optimistic about his progress.

“His treatment has been moving in a positive direction and as a managed condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year,” sources confirmed.

King Charles’ health issues were first revealed on January 17 after Buckingham Palace announced he was undergoing a health procedure for an enlarged prostate.

He was discharged from the London Clinic on January 29 and spent another three nights at a private hospital near Regent’s Park in London.

The King has remained tight-lipped on the exact type of cancer he has and has not gone into details about what sort of treatment he has received during his health battle.

Dame Laura Lee, chief executive of cancer support charity Maggie’s – Queen Camilla is a patron – told Sky News UK that it was not unusual to receive treatment for months.

“It’s very common for treatment to be ongoing for very long periods of time, as is the treatment that the Princess of Wales went through, which is an intense period of treatment over a year, and then it comes to a point where it’s on an end, and she’s on that recovery from some of the impacts of her treatment,” she said.

“So we’ve got immunotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, hormone therapy.

“There are all sorts of different treatment modalities.

“And so it’s not surprising at all.”

The King and Queen will on Friday take part in their last major public engagement before the Christmas break and are scheduled to meet with community representatives at Waltham Forest in London.

Prince Andrew has continued to dominate the headlines in the UK throughout the week after claims he was befriended by alleged Chinese spy Yang Tengbo.

Mr Yang lost an appeal earlier this month to stop him from entering the UK on security grounds.

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson will not be joining the rest of the royal family for Christmas at Sandringham next week.

The Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis also missed this week’s pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.
