Former child actor Brandon “Bug” Hall, who appeared in films including The Little Rascals and The Stupids, is known for his ultraconservative, religious opinions that he shares regularly on social media.
But this week he outraged his audience with a particularly sexist comment about his four daughters.
In a post on X announcing the birth of his fifth child and first son, Hall wrote, “I have an heir! Mark Athanasius Chad Anthony Hall-Barnett of the Holy Cross was born at 4am, weighing in at 9.5 lbs [4.3kg]. Mama and baby are both doing great. My bride’s fifth delivery, third all natural. Athanasius Contra Mundum.”
When commenters pointed out that Hall is already the father to four girls, the eldest of whom would be considered his heir, he replied, “I said heir, not dishwasher.”
This caused even more outrage, with many people calling out Hall for his “toxicity” and saying the comments are “disgusting”.
“An heir? What a weird thing to say,” one user tweeted, while another wondered, “5th kid but finally have a heir?”
“I feel so bad that your daughters have a father like you,” another chimed in, with a fourth writing, “How very… self centred.”
Hall has long been a provocateur, though; his profile states that he’s the “patriarch to five ladies” and he has a history of anti-gay, anti-trans and men’s rights-related posts.
In 2022, he was suspended from Twitter after promoting corporal punishment for his young children.
Social media is not the only place where Hall finds himself in hot water, though.
In 2020, he was arrested by police in Weatherford, Texas on charges of possession for use to inhale/ingest a volatile chemical after he was found huffing an air duster.
Despite the outrage his “dishwasher” comment provoked, it hasn’t stopped Hall from promoting his patriarchal agenda on his account in the days since.
