Kate Ritchie broke down in tears live on air this morning when she took a trip down memory lane with Aussie country music star Troy Cassar-Daley.

The actress-turned-radio-host was taken by surprise when her co-hosts Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli invited the legendary musician as a guest on their Nova 96.9 program,Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie.

The segment was off to a good start with Ritchie and Cassar-Daley singing a duet of the ’60s banger Gimme Some Lovin', the same song they belted out when appearing on the celebrity singing competition It Takes Two back in 2006.

The show, which aired on Seven between 2006 and 2008, teamed 10 of Australia’s beloved celebrities with renowned singers to mentor them on their quest for the title – Ritchie was paired with Cassar-Daley and she came fourth on the show.

Fast forward 18 years and her co-hosts urged her to relive the moment, so she and the country music star – who have become good friend over the years – took to the mic once again. Safe to say they’ve still got it even after all these years.

However, their trip down memory lane quickly turned to tears as Ritchie revealed Cassar-Daley was due to perform at her wedding back in 2010, but he was out of town.

“When I got married in 2010, Troy couldn’t make the wedding and instead … Sorry,” she said as the tears came flooding out.

“You know what happened?” the singer explained as Ritchie sobbed. “I was living in Nashville and my studio was in the cupboard in this little rental house. And I’ll just do a little chorus and all it is …”

He then began to sing the song he wrote and sent her for the wedding, Make the Most (Of Everyday With You).

“Gonna make the most of every day with you. ‘Cause good things don’t last long. And this world can do you wrong,” he sang.

Ritchie married then-NRL star Stuart Webb in a luxurious ceremony at the Quamby Estate in Tasmania in 2010, one year after they got engaged. They welcomed daughter Mae in 2014.

The couple sadly split, ending their nine-year marriage in 2020.
