Hugh Jackman’s teased about his real-life divorce in new Deadpool movie

One of Aussie star Hugh Jackman’s closest pals has made a wild remark about the star’s divorce from ex Deborra-Lee Furness.

Hugh Jackman explains why he came back to Wolverine after saying he was done

Hugh Jackman appears to be well and truly over his divorce, so much so that it’s seemingly joked about in his new blockbuster movie.

The Aussie icon split from Deborra-Lee Furness in September, when the couple announced they were divorcing after 27 years of marriage and two children together.

While Jackman’s barely made reference to his marriage since, in Deadpool vs. Wolverine the actor’s split appears to be very blatantly alluded to.

In one scene, Reynold’s character looks at Jackman’s character and teases: “He’s usually shirtless, but he’s let himself go since the divorce.”

With Wolverine never divorcing in the movies, it seems clear Jackman was happy for Reynolds to joke about his real-life split in the Marvel movie.

The remark comes after Furness referenced how she’s been since the split for the first time back in April.

She told Page Six that “This is a year of evolution for me,” and added the last few months had been “scary” but she’s “grateful” for this new chapter.

It comes after Jackman took to social media to hit out at reports he was plotting a move back to Australian soil.

“STOP THE MADNESS!!! Yes, we moved. To a new apartment. IN NEW YORK CITY,” he wrote on Instagram Stories in response to the claims. “Stories to the contrary are UNTRUE.”

Jackman and Furness met in 1995 on-set of ABC TV production, Correlli, and married the following year in Toorak, Victoria. News of their split came as a huge surprise, with the duo long considered one of the strongest pairings in showbiz.

The pair said in a joint statement that they had grown apart and decided to split.

“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” they said in a joint statement obtained by People magazine.

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”

Jackman has previously gushed over Furness for their 27th wedding anniversary in April 2023 just months before their split in a sweet social media post.

“I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!!” he wrote alongside a loved-up photo.

“Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humour, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”
