BRAD Pitt has spoken about his divorce from Angelina Jolie as the actress insists she had to take action so their kids would be “safeguarded”.
Pitt spoke at the premiere of his new film Allied with Marion Cotillard, the co-star he was accused of having an affair with before she scotched those rumours by revealing she is pregnant with her partner, actor Guillaume Canet.
He said fans had been very supportive during this difficult time.
“It’s really sweet, everyone has been really kind out here. It’s really nice to have all the support,” he told E! News.
The Department Of Children And Family Services have cleared Pitt of child abuse, after an incident involving the couple’s son Maddox on a plane.
Jolie filed for divorce the day after.
It came as Jolie’s rep released a statement to TMZ saying the actress does not regret taking the action that she did.
“Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal,” the rep said.
Her rep went on to say that the estranged couple have a legal agreement in place — stating that Jolie has physical custody, while Pitt has monitored visitation of their kids Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10 and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Pitt is fighting for shared custody of the children.
