K-pop megastar Kim Ji-soo has gone public with the news she is dating a fellow South Korean star, actor and model Ahn Bo Hyun.

Ji-soo confirmed the relationship through her agency YG Entertainment, sending her fans into a spin.

The move is noteworthy as the cutthroat K-pop industry is notorious for keeping close tabs on its stars and their personal lives, with some idols reportedly banned from dating.

Jisoo is the first member of Blackpink to go public with a partner.

YG Entertainment and Ahn Bo Hyun’s agency FN Entertainment said of the stars’ budding romance: “They are getting to know each other with positive feelings. We would be thankful if you look upon them with warmth,” according to reports in local media.

Jisoo told Korean news outlet Dispatch: “I’m cautious because it’s the beginning stage, and I like it. It’s in the process of getting to know little by little.”

Jisoo, 28, is a superstar in the music scene but has also branched out to acting.

Meanwhile, K-drama actor Ahn Bo-hyun, 35, has featured in movies like Memories of a Dead End and TV shows including Military Prosecutor Doberman.

Fans reacted with joy to the news.

“JISOO MY GIRL CONGRATS ON YOUR DATING! u guys are both so fine,” one wrote.

“Congratulations Jisoo I hope that you and Bo-hyun will be in love forever,” another added.

Fans also flocked to Ahn Bo-hyun’s Instagram page where he reportedly gained hundreds of thousands of followers in less than a day.

At 4.1 million followers, he still has a bit of work to do to catch Jisoo’s number of 74.7 million.

In June, Blackpink made local headlines after Jisoo’s bandmate Jennie Kim walked out of their Melbourne show, leaving the audience baffled.

Her mid-song departure left remaining stars Lisa, Jisoo and Rose to perform the rest of the two-hour Rod Laver Arena concert as a trio.

“It seems that we will be proceeding with the rest of the show without Jennie,” Rose later told the crowd. “However, we will try our best to fill the stage up for you guys and give you the best night. In the meantime, our hearts will be with Jennie, supporting her.”

Explaining her abrupt exit on Instagram afterwards, Jennie wrote: “I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to finish the show on Sunday. I’m doing my best to recover atm. Your understanding and support means the world to me. Thank you to everyone who came to your Melbourne show. Love you guys.”
