Billy Ray Cyrus accused of ‘abuse’ by his Australian wife in shock court filings amid divorce battle

Miley Cyrus’ father has been accused of ‘extreme abuse’ by his Aussie wife just weeks after the singer filed for divorce.

Just weeks after Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his Australian wife, she has responded with a divorce filing of her own that accuses the singer of “extreme verbal, emotional and psychological abuse”.

Firerose, 36, has alleged that Cyrus, 62, has substance abuse issues that had made him act in an “unpredictable and volatile” manner during their marriage.

She also claims he filed for divorce just 24 hours before she was set to undergo a preventive double mastectomy.

“Wife was the victim of extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse,” Firerose’s lawyers wrote in the complaint, reported PEOPLE.

“Wife was subjected to Husband’s persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana which made Husband unpredictable and volatile towards Wife.”

Cyrus’ lawyers, Rose Palermo and Jason Talley of Cheatham Palermo and Garrett, responded to Firerose’s allegations in a statement to US Weekly.

“We regret that Ms. Hodges has chosen to litigate this seven-month marriage in the press and has left Mr. Cyrus with no recourse but to set the record straight,” said the statement. “The allegations that Ms. Hodges states in her answer and counter-complaint are especially confusing and suspicious in its veracity since she begged Mr. Cyrus to forgive her and take her back only 2 days after he filed his pleadings to dissolve his marriage.”

“I miss you more than I can possibly explain in words Baby,” a handwritten letter Page Six exclusively obtained from Cyrus’ camp reads. “Please let’s work this out and not become anything but closer out of this hellish experience. I need you. I love you. I am so sorry.”

Cyrus and Firerose married in October after a year-long engagement but separated last month. The country star filedfor an annulment on May 23, alleging fraud, according to legal documents. A day later, the spouses agreed that Firerose would vacate Cyrus’ home and that he would provide her “some financial support” for 90 days, or until their marriage was officially over.

In a court filing obtained by TMZ, the country crooner accused his estranged wife of charging $US96,986.05 ($146,815) on his credit card between May 23 and June 7.

The filing claimed Firerose spent the hefty amount via 37 unauthorised charges. She allegedly used his business American Express card, which he argued she was never approved to handle.

The Achy Breaky Heart singer asked a judge to grant an emergency restraining order to prevent his ex from using the card and others. He also requested that she be ordered to pay him every cent back.

Firerose, however, argued in her own court filing obtained by TMZ that she’s had access to several of his cards since they moved in together in 2022 and that she never had to abide by any limit. She also said she should be able to use their martial money while they’re still legally wed to support her established lifestyle.

Their pending divorce is Cyrus’ second recent split, as he and Tish Cyrus called it quits for the third and final time in April 2022 after 28 years of marriage.

Tish has also moved on, marrying Aussie Prison Break star Dominic Purcell in August 2023 with her famous daughter, Miley, serving as her maid of honour.

Miley was not present at Billy and Firerose’s ceremony, as their relationship is reportedly fractured.
