Well, she’s kind of addressed it.

Rumours began circulating in recent months the 26-year-old had split from boyfriend Richie Strahan after he picked her as the winner on The Bachelor last year. And last week they were confirmed, with New Idea reporting the mum-of-one is now dating her Frankston Bombers WFL teammate Maegan Luxa — a 31-year-old Melbourne chef and landscaper.

Nation addressed the situation indirectly on 88.3 Southern FM while talking about the same-sex marriage plebiscite.

“We should celebrate love between people whether it is male, male and female or women and female,” she said.

Nation and Luxa met as teammates while playing for the Frankston Bombers.

“I think if you have a connection with someone you can’t — people can’t help who they connect with … that should be all that matters.”

She explained joining her football team at the beginning of the year opened her eyes.

“Before being in a football club I didn’t have any friends that were in relationships with women, I’d never experienced that,” she said.

“Obviously I had seen it down the street and everything like that but I’d never experienced it first hand with my own friends.”

Nation spoke about the struggles same sex couples face and encouraged listeners to vote in favour of gay marriage.

“At the same time you see the two of them together and they are exactly the same as you would be [in a heterosexual relationship],” she added.
