Grace Mcgraw has revealed that she uses Ozempic for weight loss

The daughter of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill has revealed the wild truth about her weight loss.

Safety concerns over the misuse of Ozempic

Singer Grace McGraw has responded to speculation about her body, revealing she used controversial drug Ozempic to achieve the results.

McGraw, 26, took to Instagram to share the reason her body has changed in the last few months.

The daughter of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill posted a bikini snap with the caption, “It is a gorgeous day for narcissism.”

“And Ozempic”, a troll replied.

Interestingly, she decided to address the response directly.

“I did use Ozempic last year; yes, I am now on a low dose of Mounjaro for my PCOS as well as working out. No need to accuse when I have been open about it.”

Ozempic has taken over the cultural conversation in the last couple of months with many on social media swearing by it as a weight loss drug.

Its grip on the culture is so strong that now whenever a celebrity loses weight they are instantly accused of using the drug.

Ozempic become so popular, it has led to it nationwide shortage, but it is important to remember it isn’t actually a weight loss drug.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration explained it is still a prescription-only medicine, and should only be determined as an appropriate treatment option in consultation with a medical practitioner.

The ARTG has approved Ozempic solely for treating type 2 diabetes following an evaluation of its quality, safety, and efficacy. Weight loss is an off-label use of Ozempic.

In fact, actor and body-positive advocate Jameela Jamil has recently spoken out about how dangerous the popularity of Ozempic has become.

“I have said what I have said about the potential harm of people using diabetes medication for weight loss only.”

“I fear for everyone in the next few years. Rich people are buying this stuff off prescriptions for upwards of $1,000. Actual diabetes is seeing shortages. It’s now a mainstream craze in Hollywood,” she wrote on Instagram.

So how did it become so popular?

Dr Ross Walker, cardiologist and chief medical officer at Diabetes Wellness Australia, explains that the drug went viral after an article was published in 2021 in a prestigious New England Journal of Medicine. The journal documented a study that used the drug on obese people and found great success with weight loss.

However, Dr Walker warned the report failed to explain what happens after taking the drug.

“The results are impressive, but what they don’t show is the reality of these individuals and their lives once the medication is stopped.”

In fact, the drug isn’t recommended for long-term use, and shouldn’t be seen as a solution for weight loss.

“Ozempic and other GLP-1 agonists have been shown to assist this process in diabetics and people struggling to lose weight through these vital lifestyle changes,” Dr Walker explained.

“They can be seen as a reasonable way to kickstart a weight loss program but should not be used as a long-term solution,” Dr Walker told news.com.au.
