Drew Barrymore has made a surprising confession about plastic surgery in a new interview.

The Hollywood actress led a troubled upbringing where she found herself entangled in addiction and personal struggles.

While she’s now in a much better place and thriving in both her career and personal life, those issues from the past still appear to haunt aspects of her life.

In a new interview, Barrymore opened up about getting plastic surgery and going under the knife, and shared the reason behind her hesitance to do so.

“I have a highly addictive personality, so I worry I’d continue to chase it, get this and that done,” Barrymore explained to PEOPLE. “That scares me, just because of my own approach to things,” she added. “So, I’m waiting on making any alterations.”

The actress — who battled substance abuse as an adolescent and gave up drinking altogether in 2021 — insisted that she hasn’t “done anything” to fight the ageing process.

“And I’m going to maintain that as long as possible,” she said. “I have zero judgment for anyone doing anything. But I don’t see myself resorting to it.”

Barrymore has been very open throughout her life regarding her struggles, which began early in life when she became addicted to drugs at just 12-years-old.

It led to her legally divorcing her parents at 14. By 15 she had been shunned by Hollywood, and ended up being married and divorced twice before by her mid-20s.

She revealed in 2017 that at one point, she was certain she would be dead before ever reaching her 30s, let alone her 40s.

“I really had a fear that I was going to die at 25,” she told The Guardian. “But no matter how dark s**t got, I always had a sense that there should be goodness. I never went all the way into darkness. There were so many things I could have done that would have pushed me over the edge and I just knew not to go there.”

Thankfully, Barrymore eventually found her feet, and went on to return to A-list status before carving a new career for herself as an internationally beloved chat show host.
