JAY Z is reportedly avoiding taking a paternity test that could reveal the rapper has a 21-year-old love child.
A young man from Philadelphia, Rymir Satterthwaite, is claiming to be the illegitimate offspring of the mogul rapper and has brought a civil lawsuit against him in an effort to get Jay Z to offer up some DNA.
The National Enquirer is claiming they have uncovered court documents that show Mr. Satterthwaite told a New Jersey court that his mother, Wanda, had an affair with the rapper in the early 90s — well before his successful music career and relationship with Beyonce.
According to the tabloid, Mr. Satterthwaite’s mother tried to force Jay Z to submit a paternity test in 2010 but the judge dismissed her request saying the court didn’t have jurisdiction over the rapper.
Now a woman named Lillie Coley — who is acting as the legal guardian of the 21-year-old — has claimed that the rapper lied to the court about his official place of residence in order to avoid potentially having to comply to the test.
Ms. Coley told the New York Daily News that she was shocked that the news of the paternity suit has been leaked to the public.
“All this attention caught us off guard ... We didn’t expect someone to leak it to the press. We weren’t expecting this,” she told them.
This is not the first time Jay Z has had to deal with such rumours.
A story in 2011 emerged that alleged Mr. Carter had fathered a child with Trinidad model, Shenelle Scott but was never substantiated.
With the current claim before the courts, it remains to be seen if it will end the same way.
News.com.au has contacted Jay Z’s management and Mr. Satterthwaite for comment but has yet to hear back.
