Carrie Bickmore’s poster ‘removed’ as Project co-star jokes ‘10 reacted swiftly’

She’s finishing up with The Project at the end of the year, but it seems Carrie Bickmore’s poster in the Ten hallway has already been removed.

Carrie Bickmore announces she is leaving The Project

Carrie Bickmore dropped the big news she was leaving The Project after 13 years on the desk.

The 41-year-old co-host made the tearful announcement on Tuesday night, which was quickly followed by industry speculation she was jumping ship to rival network, Channel 9.

And an Instagram post by The Project panellist Peter Helliar has done little to dispel rumours of a network swap, after he posted a photo of Bickmore posing alongside her poster in the Ten hallway, which has seemingly already been removed despite Bickmore remaining with the program until the end of the year.

“Wow. Channel 10 have reacted swiftly to Carrie’s big farewell news!!,” Helliar wrote.

An industry source who works at Ten told news.com.au the post was a joke, but fans in the comments section didn’t appear to think so.

“That’s showbiz,” one wrote, another adding, “Out with the old & in with the new.”

A third said, “Chair not even cold yet.”

Addressing viewers on Tuesday’s program, Bickmore said she was leaving the show at “a time that feels right”, adding it was “time for a new challenge and my next chapter.”

While she didn’t divulge what her next move would be, it comes amid weeks of reports she’s a strong contender to replace Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair over on rival network Channel 9.

However, as part of her farewell monologue, Bickmore claimed she was looking forward to “more family dinners and watching the show with my pjs on and a wine in hand.”

This prompted a report in The Daily Telegraph that claimed Bickmore could have her eyes set on breakfast TV, with rumours she might join Karl Stefanovic on the Today show instead of Allison Langdon.

After making the announcement, the mother-of-three took to Instagram to share some more thoughts on her resignation, adding that when she first started on the show her eldest son Ollie was a one-year-old. He’s now 15, and she’s since welcomed two more children, Evie and Adelaide.

“I’m gonna miss my best mates on the desk, the job itself which is just so incredibly fulfilling, our wonderful viewers who’ve been on the journey over the last 13 years,” she said.

“It’s no secret that this show has become a second home for me, and I can’t be more thankful to everyone that has been involved on and off screen.

“I’m leaving at a time that I’m so happy to be here, which feels so confusing, but I just know it’s time, I know it’s right.”
