Supercars glamour couple David Reynolds and Tahan Lew-Fatt were haunted by swimming pool spectre

One of sport’s glamour couples had a horrifying experience at a swimming pool that left them questioning their sanity – and they still grapple to understand how it happened.

V8 star David Reynolds has shared an extraordinary story of how he and glamour partner Tahan Lew-Fatt were spooked by a ghost – in a swimming pool.

It is one of three supernatural encounters with no rational explanation experienced by the 39-year-old Supercars driver, who says he “never believed in ghosts” and even today still struggles to understand what really happened.

The first incident took place at an apartment block in St Kilda, Melbouren where the pair were living in 2014.

NSW-born Reynolds had the pool entirely to himself and was swimming laps, when he felt another being “brush past” him.

Surprised, he glanced round under the water and saw kicking feet – with a difference.

“They weren’t solid feet,’ Reynolds said. “They were transparent. It is difficult to describe, but they were not the feet of any living person.”

He stood up and checked the pool properly – but it was empty.

Alarmed, he leapt out of the water and ran upstairs to the flat, wondering if he’d gone crazy; he decided not to mention it to former grid girl Lew-Fatt, in case she came to the same conclusion about his mental state – until, the very next day, the Big Brother star and Miss Universe contestant also saw the phantom.

“She had only left fifteen minutes or so ago to go downstairs and jump in the spa,’ Reynolds said, “which was right next to the pool. Anyway, she came in yelling and screaming, all

white and scared, screaming about a ghost.”

He added: “You have to remember, I didn’t say a thing about what had happened to me the day before, and here she is, the very next day, claiming to have seen a ghost in the same part of the apartment block.”

Having established neither were mad, Reynolds began investigating the supernatural; and over the next two years had two more spectral experiences, all of which he recounts in author James Phelps’ new book Australian Ghost Stories, published today (Weds, Oct 2) by HarperCollins.

The auto ace is among a number of celebrities who open up with very personal revelations: among them footy father-son legends Wayne and Mitchell Pearce, who shared their story earlier this week, rocker Angry Anderson and trainer Alexa Towersey.

The author also examines the experiences of less well-known Aussies who have encountered ghosts in homes, schools and workplaces – and he visits some of the country’s most notorious apparently haunted sites in search of the truth.
