FANS were left disappointed after Wonder Woman failed to score an Oscars nod, but Gal Gadot had the perfect response.

FANS hoping to see Wonder Woman recognised at the Academy Awards next month have been left disappointed, after the movie failed to pick up a single nomination earlier this week.

The movie received critical acclaim and grossed $US770 million worldwide — while inevitably making lead star Gal Gadot a household name.

Clearly still riding high on Wonder Woman’s success, Gadot has graciously insisted she’s not bothered by what many are calling an Oscars snub.

“I was very moved and touched by the people who were disappointed that Wonder Woman wasn’t nominated, but we certainly never did the movie for that,” she explained.

“I think that you can’t have it all. We’ve done this movie and it was received in such an amazing, wonderful way, and we want to stay humble and grateful, and we’re going to have another movie, so who knows? Maybe the next one!”

Many had believed Wonder Woman would get a nomination in one of the technical awards categories, or that director Patty Jenkins may earn a Best Director nod.

But while this year’s out, the franchise may soon have another chance at Oscars glory.

Warner Bros announced last year that a sequel is in the works, titled Wonder Woman II.

According to multiple media reports, the follow up to Wonder Woman will be another period piece.

It’s believed to be set before the events of Batman v Superman, but after her adventures in WWI. The new film will reportedly see the Diana Prince character brushing up against the Soviet Union toward the end of the Cold War in the 1980s.

That’s not the only exciting news to come out of the Wonder Woman camp. According to ScreenRant, which first reported the rumours of the sequel details, Chris Pine may return for the next phase of the Wonder Woman saga. This may come as a surprise to many considering how first film ended for his character, Steve Trevor.

Wonder Woman II is slated for release in November, 2019.
