James Franco’s interview with Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj ahead of MTV VMAs is priceless

JAMES Franco might have missed his calling in life.

The actor sat down with this year’s MTV Video Music Awards performers Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj, in character as faux entertainment tabloid host Dave Skylark.

During the segment, called Dave Skylark’s Very Special VMA Special, the hard-hitting host puts it to the Aussie rapper that she’s not quite so fancy, after all.

But when Skylark (Franco’s character from his upcoming film The Interview) sits down with Nicki Minaj is when he really lets loose, refusing to talk about anything except her “superb ass.”

Minaj’s bizarre response to the question, “If your ass was a tree, what kind of tree would it be?” is priceless.

Both rappers play their part brilliantly, although at times it’s difficult to tell if the fiery American Idol host is being serious or not.

There’s also a backstage moment with Seth Rogen in character as Skylark’s producer, Aaron Rapoport, to get fans excited about the pair’s upcoming flick.

At least there were no hard feelings from Iggy’s end, with the 24-year-old posting this pearler to Instagram after the hilariously awkward interview.

Azalea (with a total of seven VMA nods) is set to perform her new single Black Widow with Rita Ora, while Minaj will give a live debut of her latest single Anaconda at the 2014 awards show, taking place August 24.

Franco and Rogen’s The Interview is slated for release in December.
