The wait is over. VCE students woke on Thursday to their ATARs, but one Christian College graduate “can’t relate” to results day anxiety, having already locked in her university spot.

Thousands of students across Geelong woke to their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) scores on Thursday morning.

While many students will begin changing university preferences and planning their next move, one Christian College graduate “can’t quite relate” - having already locked in her degree.

Charlotte Muller, 18, will start a Bachelor of Nursing at Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Ballarat campus next year.

She said it was a “massive relief”.

“With so much pressure taken off my shoulders I was able to just enjoy the end of my school journey,” Charlotte said.

The Leopold teenager was one of hundreds of Victorians who received an early offer through the university’s guarantee program, which offers year 12 students a place based on their Year 11 results.

Charlotte signed up on the first day of early entries.

“I’ve always been a nurturing person, and I want to use help others achieve a better quality of life,” she said.

“I can only dream of where it’ll take me in the future.”

Charlotte said for her Thursday would just be another day.

“Honestly, I’m not in the same boat (as many students),” she said.

“I’ll look at my results, but I’m not too stressed.”

Senior education lecturer Deakin University Dr Kellie McGlynn said while ATARs were at times an important stepping stone into study, more and more students were taking alternate pathways.

“Tuesday’s Mitchell Institute study showed 30 per cent of year 12s have an offer before the ATAR is even released,” she said.

“It’s not as important as people think it is.

“Take a breath, take a stock of what you’ve achieved, take some time with family and friends and then think about what you’re planning for next year.

McGlynn said regardless of their results, getting through the year was a “huge achievement”.

Dr McGlynn said all the 2025 graduates, should open their ATAR results in their own way.

“Some will want to have trusted person around them to be able to share the news, and some people may want to do it on their own and process,” he said.

“It is a big moment in a young person’s life so taking some time to process that however they feel they need is important.
