SCOTT White knows all too well the "nightmare" that is Fairview Heights State School drop off and pick ups.
Mr White, who is also the school's P and C treasurer, said he had two daughters who went to the school and his son had also been a student there.
"In the afternoon the pick-up zone can go all the way down to the intersection with Bridge St, 300 metres away" Mr White said.
"It is a nightmare. In the afternoon the wait time is stressful and it's not appropriate for everyone with work conditions to be there on time."
Mr White said the school's drop-off zone, on a cul-de-sac was originally meant to cater for 300 students a day. The school now has more than 500.
Toowoomba North MP Trevor Watts has launched a petition calling on the Education Department to create a masterplan that addresses the long-term parking needs for the school after he was approached by Mr White.
"A masterplan will ensure Fairview Heights State School can cater for future growth while minimising the school's impact on neighbouring residents," Mr Watts said.
The petition will be tabled in the Queensland Parliament in the first sitting week of 2019.
