Some of Toowoomba’s childcare centres have been rated as exceeding industry benchmarks, however six childcare centres have failed to meet these standards. FULL LIST: How every child care centre rated.

Government announces further $1.7b in childcare funding

The quality of Toowoomba’s childcare centres has been assessed by the industry’s peak body and while there are many centres exceeding the standards set, others are failing to meet the mark.

The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority rates childcare centres on a variety of factors including their physical environment, relationships with children, partnerships with families and communities and governance and leadership.

“The National Quality Standard sets a high national benchmark for early childhood education and care and outside school hours care services in Australia,” the ACECQ says.

“Services are assessed and rated by their regulatory authority against the NQS, and given a rating for each of the seven quality areas and an overall rating based on these results.

Centres are rated as ‘Excellent’, ‘Exceeding’, ‘Meeting’, ‘Working Towards’ and ‘Significant Improvement Required’.

Of the 12 childcare centres that have been rated as exceeding the NQS benchmark, only Kulila Indigenous Kindergarten has gone from meeting to exceeding the industry standards.

The following childcare centres have failed to meet industry standards and are currently working towards reaching the NQS benchmark:

• Genius Learning – Toowoomba

• A Country Garden Early Childhood Centre

• Rangeville Outside School Hours Care

• Hall-Thorpe Sports – Toowoomba Grammar Junior School OSHC

• LEAD Childcare – Toowoomba

• Kath Dickson Education and Care Centre (Gladstone Street)

Seven childcare centres have no NQS rating issued by the ACECQ.
