TOBACCO mogul Travers Beynon, aka The Candyman, is pulling out the big guns in his legal fight against the ex-nanny who defamed him on ACA.

HE MAY appear to court publicity, but it was no laughing matter when Travers Beynon’s former nanny spoke out about his raunchy lifestyle on national television.

The tobacco mogul known as The Candyman successfully sued his former nanny Michelle Manthey for defamatory comments she made about him on A Current Affair last year.

Now the 44-year-old Gold Coast businessman has issued bankruptcy proceedings over the $25,000 damages award, The Courier Mail reports.

While Beynon’s flamboyant lifestyle has been well documented, with his lavish parties at his palatial $3.7 million Candy Shop Mansion broadcast to the world via social media, it appears that Ms Manthey crossed a line when she criticised his family life.

Her claim that Beynon’s young children were present during a nude photo shoot of his wife Taesha, who posed with sushi laid out on her naked body, was found to be defamatory, and Ms Manthey did not prove the claim true at trial.

The Candyman became a media sensation thanks to his over-the-top parties and high-flying lifestyle, with his Instagram feed featuring a stream of scantily-clad young women.

One of the more controversial posts was a video of women dressed in lingerie being dragged towards a large cage by a figure in a lizard-type suit.

Beynon has described himself as a misunderstood, fun-loving “larrikin”, slamming the media for it’s “tall poppy syndrome”.
