Business leaders criticise Labor’s casual worker changes

A popular annual show which attracts thousands of visitors every year is offering savvy workers the chance to snag as much as $50 an hour.

With less than a month to go, organisers at the Royal Adelaide Show are on the hunt for hundreds of workers to help man the annual event.

Keen-eyed jobseekers stand to make some big bucks over the ten-day event beginning on September 2, according to recent Seek listings.

Jobs ranging from stable hands to cleaners have been posted to the online career board in recent days, as organisers gear-up for opening night.

While more glamorous casual roles such as beverage attendants and showbag salespeople are in the offing, the dirtier jobs offer bigger rewards.

According to Seek, bin runners, event cleaners, and overnight cleaners all stand to make between $33.69-$54.15 per hour during the show.

The job posting, placed by Australian Green Cleans, reveals workers would be rostered on day shifts between 7am-5.30pm.

Night shifts meanwhile require staff to be available between 4.30pm-midnight, with overnight cleaning shifts running even later.

The ideal candidate should “possess a passion for excellent customer service”, and not be afraid to “work hard and get your hands dirty”.
