TOOWOOMBA company Wagners has continued a strong year after signing a new contract in the United States to build boardwalks in Florida.

The construction materials provider will design and deliver a series of boardwalks and jetties in Ocala, totalling more than 500 metres in length.

The project, which is part of an innovative aquifer recharge park, will be made of Wagners' new composite fibre technology (CFT) product.

CFT executive general manager Michael Kemp said the company was delighted to win the project.

"The Wagners CFT product has an expected 100-year design life on the engineering and materials and wouldn't need any maintenance for at least 30, if not 50 years," he said.

"It will quickly begin to pay for itself, saving the city millions of dollars in repair and replacement costs.

"Wagners has earned a reputation both nationally and overseas for providing high-quality  products, excellent service and long term assets for local communities."

From the heart: John Wagner

Ocala City's engineer Sean Lanier said Wagners' CFT material could help solve a long-term problem associated with the city's boardwalks.

"Traditional materials like wood, steel, and even concrete are subject to decay," he said.

"In Florida, that decay is accelerated due to its sub-tropical nature and proximity to harsh wet and often salty environments."

Wagners received a $272,250 grant from the Queensland Government through Made in Queensland, an initiative supporting Queensland manufacturers, towards its foray into the USA.

The publicly-listed company has enjoyed some strong wins in 2018, with its share price hitting an all-time high in June on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Wagners is currently trading above $4.
