The head of one of Toowoomba’s most successful charities has announced her resignation after nearly a decade in the job.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation chief executive Alison Kennedy has stepped down, making the announcement last week to the public.

Ms Kennedy’s nine years in the position had been marked by extraordinary growth in the charity’s fundraising operation to put towards extra infrastructure at the Toowoomba Hospital.

Its revenue in 2024 reached more than $9m, up more than 250 per cent from the $2.59m recorded the year before she took over.

This was achieved by introducing new regular events to the Toowoomba social calendar, including the popular Legends at their Game series that most recently featured rock star Sir Bob Geldof.

The THF also opened the first stage of its new health museum at Baillie Henderson, while also taking over running of The Chronicle’s Garden Competition.

Foundation chair Jacqui Armstrong said she thanked Ms Kennedy for her efforts and achievements.

“The board congratulates Alison on her achievements during her time with the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation,” she said.

“During her tenure, the THF has grown significantly, achieved great success and will continue to do so.

“Alison has laid the groundwork to allow the Foundation to look to the future with great optimism.

“We wish Alison well and thank her for the great work she has done.”

Ms Kennedy was contacted for comment.
