Toowoomba’s business community has laid out its wishlist for the upcoming state budget, with red tape and big ticket infrastructure projects on top of the agenda.
Treasurer Cameron Dick will answer the city’s budget questions when he comes to Toowoomba for a special luncheon in July.
Mr Dick, who will hand down the 2021-21 state budget on June 15, will be hitting the road to sell the merits of the Queensland Government’s financial agenda.
The event at The Oaks Hotel on July 16, hosted by the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce, will give small business owners a chance to grill the Treasurer on what the government will do to help the region recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Toowoomba Chamber said its members wanted to see less business red tape and taxes and increased procurement of local businesses and greater competition in utility infrastructure.
Members also wanted to infrastructure investment in projects like the Quarry Gardens, water security, public transport, a conference centre or a sports stadium, as well as more investment in skilling programs.
