A Toowoomba-based accountancy and business finance firm has expanded to a new CBD location as business optimism climbs following two years of Covid turmoil.

Bringing the two branches of their business together under the one roof, Synergy Consolidated has taken up a new office in Walton Stores.

The expansion has also come with job opportunities as the firm looks to grow their workforce.

“It’s exciting for all the up and coming team members that we’ve got because they’re getting exposure to more than just the accounting and tax industry,” managing director Angie Barnard said.

“Now they’re getting exposure to advisory and finance and it’s going to make a better career for them and a more exciting learning opportunity because they’re being exposed to so much more.”

Ms Barnard said they hired three new people in the past few weeks, with four more positions available to add to their team of 27 across both Toowoomba and Maroochydore offices.

“The Toowoomba office has been growing exponentially which is why we’ve moved into the CBD,” she said.

“We’re looking to expand the team currently, the CBD is a much more attractive location, we’ve got local businesses around us that we can support, there’s networking opportunities, the whole CBD is coming alive and it’s exciting to be a part of it.”

While traditionally skilled workers and professionals moving to Queensland had favoured Brisbane, Ms Barnard said that was no longer the case.

“There’s so much optimism in the business community at the moment, there’s genuinely so much growth happening,” she said.

“We’re really fortunate in that there are so many people coming to the region now with either pro or tech skills because its an attractive place to move from Sydney or Melbourne.

“It’s a regional hub too and the gateway to western Queensland so a lot of our client base is outside Toowoomba as well.

“Within Toowoomba we’ve got manufacturers, civil construction, commercial and professionals and then for our clients west of here (Toowoomba) is a hub.”
