Rhiannon Thomas opens new business Your Physio Toowoomba

A national sporting competitor has shared the benefits of running her new physiotherapy clinic from home and how her business-minded family inspired her inner entrepreneur to make the jump.

Growing demand for rehabilitation and physio for pets

Coming from a long line of entrepreneurs, Rhiannon Thomas always knew she wanted to one day start her own business.

Following in the footsteps of her parents who operate a cattle farm, the 26-year-old opened home-based business Your Physio Toowoomba six weeks ago.

Ms Thomas who has been riding horses since the age of four and competes at a national level in dressage, decided physiotherapy was her dream career after she sustained several injuries herself.

“Horses can be a bit unpredictable so I’ve had concussions, a few fractures, a dislocated shoulder and neck and back pain from riding,” she said.

A qualified doctor in physiotherapy, the former Warwick woman has already secured 30 patients per week.

Specialising in women’s health and sports and post surgical rehab, the new business owner said she wanted to create a comfortable, tranquil and private space where she could connect with clients and offer a more personalised experience.

With dreams to one day expand her practice, Ms Thomas hopes to one day offer her services to rural areas but said she was currently content working from home.

“I’m only 26 and starting your own business is a big step so this works perfectly for me right now,” she said.

“I train five times a week for dressage so being able to set my own hours has been amazing.

“When I lived in Warwick we didn’t have access to specialists and the wait time to see one in Toowoomba was at least four to six weeks, so I plan to head back one day and fill that gap in rural communities.”
