A popular sports club in Toowoomba’s western suburbs will receive some alterations once new plans are approved by the council.
The Toowoomba Hockey Association, which owns Club Glenvale on Boundary Street in Glenvale, submitted a development application last month to turn the venue’s outdoor dining deck into an enclosed area.
According to the report by Precinct Urban Planning’s Kim Reeves, the plans would lead to an increase in gross floor area.
“The proposed change seeks to enclose part of the existing deck currently used as outdoor dining, for the purposes of indoor dining, and an associated canteen,” the report said.
“The proposal also includes upgrades/renovation of the existing designated outdoor smoking area and additional deck area over an existing roofed and concreted area used for standing.
“The alterations to the existing deck will result in additional GFA of 189 sqm due to enclosing the existing structure.”
Because it is a change to the venue’s existing approval from 2006, the proposal is considered “impact-assessable” and would need to go through a public notification stage in the future.
The council has confirmed receiving the application.
