Toowoomba’s newest indoor play and activity centre has attracted hundreds of kids and their parents for the opening weekend.
Tabatinga Toowoomba, opened by and located within the City Golf Club, was packed with locals escaping the wet weather across both Saturday and Sunday.
The new centre, which now sits in place of the club’s old functions spaces, features jungle gyms, ninja courses, toddler areas, a disco den, party rooms and even a full go-carting track.
City Golf Club’s Kayla Ferguson said the reception had been positive.
“I reckon we’re close to getting 200 people through (Saturday) – I’m so happy with that,” she said.
“Our president has been thrilled, everyone who has come says they’ve been happy.”
Ms Ferguson said parents enjoyed being able to go on the equipment with their children rather than being forced to sit and watch.
“The fact the parents can go on the play areas with the kids, because parents are used to being required to sit down, I think they’re having so much fun,” she said.
Mum Camille Lesleighter said the interactivity had been her favourite element of Tabatinga.
“It’s great, there’s lot of fun things for different age groups, there is plenty for the older kids and younger kids,” she said.
“To be able to get involved with the kids – that’s been the biggest thing for me.”
Fellow parent Regina St Johnwood said she wanted to take her daughter Lulu back in the future.
“It’s brilliant, we’re going to be coming back because Lulu just loves it,” she said.
“My favourite aspect has been the food and coffee, it’s been really good.
“I’ve been up there (on the play equipment) and I liked the slides and the ninja walls – we both did the ninja walls together so it was a bit of team-building.”
