Toowoomba’s up-and-coming business leaders will be given access to special workshops thanks to a partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and CatholicCare Social Services.

The Future leaders Mentoring Program, which was announced in Toowoomba this week, will give participants under 35 expertise and insight from mentors over a year of workshops.

Toowoomba chamber vice president and future leader advisory group lead Chris Black said it was important to foster the city’s next generation of small and medium business leaders.

“The FLMP aims to foster connections between the younger members of our business community and the best leaders that our region has to offer,” he said.

“It is about supporting future leaders of our region in their career development as well as providing a forum to give back to the small business community, which is the driving force of our community, which is the driving force of our economy.”

CatholicCare CEO Kate Venables said she hoped the concept would lead to great outcomes.

“We are delighted to partner with the Toowoomba chamber on this initiative to build the potential of our future business leaders,” she said.

“Mentoring is an important career development strategy, which allows a mentor to share their expertise and leadership knowledge with a mentee in a safe learning environment.”

Queensland Hot Property agent Jacob Carlile urged young business leaders to get involved.
