Musicians will soon have a new stage to perform on and punters will have a new bar to drink at as the CBD is set to become a little more lively within a few weeks.
The artwork has already gone up outside Bodega at Walton Stores, which will host live bands several nights a week and offer boutique beers and Latin-inspired liquor options for patrons.
The venue is the brainchild of Junk Toowoomba owner Todd Farr, who said he had borrowed heavily from the atmosphere of New York-style bodegas.
“We wanted to create a cool live music venue because we saw a void in the market,” he said.
“It’s not a pub, there’s no food, it’s all about dedicated good times, cold beer and music.
“We’ve partnered with Young Henrys and some cool beer offerings and we’re heading down that Latin-inspired liquor choices.”
Mr Farr said Toowoomba’s CBD had slowly developed a reputation as a trendy spot, something he hoped to improve with his bar.
“I’ve been in hospitality for a very long time and I’m excited about what’s happening in the city,” he said.
Bodega will open in August.
