A growing Australian pie and coffee franchise will open its first Toowoomba store this week, something that was apparently 27 years in the making.
Beefy’s, which currently has eight stores across Queensland and NSW, will take over the drive-through site opposite Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre on Anzac Ave — previously occupied by Zarraffa’s.
Tradies were spotted completing the fit-out inside the new store.
The outlet will normally run from 6am to 6pm every day, with its opening day on Wednesday from 8am.
It is understood it will employ about 20 people to run the store.
Coffee will reportedly be a key part of the expansion, with the company talking up its recent Golden Bean Australasia gold medal for its Dibella Coffee “Beefy’s Blend”.
“Beefy’s has been waiting 27 years to find the perfect site, and at long last we’ve finally found one,” a spokeswoman said.
Beefy's operations general manager Jason Lyons said the company was keen to enamour itself with the Toowoomba community by supporting local groups and clubs.
“Our new Toowoomba team can’t wait to get to know locals by name, pie and coffee order," he said.
"We love that Toowoomba is pie country. We will also be teaming up with the local community to support businesses, events and groups in the future with our pie drives and fundraising events."
Beefy’s is owned by Retail Food Group, which also owns franchises like Donut King, Gloria Jean’s, Crust, Brumby’s and Pizza Capers.
“Our pies and pastries are eaten in store, on the run and at home by tradies, tourists, families and pie enthusiasts, of course,” the website said.
“We’ve got something on the menu for everyone, including gluten free meat pies and sausage rolls.”
The official opening will be held this Saturday, with the company offering “buy one, get one free” pies all day.
