Special report: A high-priority target at the Igrejinha lithium project in Brazil’s Lithium Valley is the focus of Perpetual Resources’ maiden RC drilling program.

The program will comprise 1500m of RC drilling at Target 1, where extensive geological mapping, soil geochemistry and auger sampling have defined a corridor more than 1.4km long with confirmed spodumene mineralisation.

Construction of down-strike trenches has uncovered further spodumene and pollucite (caesium) mineralisation close to the high-grade Target 1 outcrop, which is consistent with the mapped pegmatite corridor targeted in the maiden drilling campaign.

The campaign will focus on testing depth and strike extensions of these known outcropping spodumene-bearing pegmatites.

It will be carried out by ServDrill Brazil, a highly experienced drilling services company with a strong track record of successful lithium drilling campaigns, including recent work for Sigma Lithium (NASDAQ:SGML) and Lithium Ionic (TSXV:LTH).

‘Major milestone’

Perpetual Resources (ASX:PEC) executive chairman Julian Babarczy said kicking off drilling at Igrejinha marked a major milestone for Perpetual.

“Newly uncovered spodumene along strike enhances our confidence in the scale of the mineralised system,” Babarczy said.

“With a highly experienced contractor on site and strong local support, we are excited to begin unlocking the potential of this project in one of the world’s most prolific lithium provinces.”

Igrejinha, in Brazil’s globally recognised Lithium Valley, is less than 10km from and in the same geological setting as globally significant lithium projects such as Sigma Lithium’s low-cost Grota Do Cirilo complex.

The Lithium Valley holds the lion’s share of the nation’s ~45 hard rock lithium deposits, similar to those mined in WA, and accounts for more than 80% of the country’s known lithium reserves.

Babarczy told Stockhead Brazil’s Lithium Valley presents a highly attractive setting for resource development.

The region is bolstered by substantial investment and strong government backing for critical minerals projects, including recent moves by major Chinese firms like BYD, which have secured exploration ground and established EV manufacturing facilities.

What else is happening?

The drill program will continue through June, with samples submitted for laboratory analysis progressively throughout the campaign.

PEC expects to provide shareholders with updates on drilling progress in June and initial assay results are expected in July 2025.
