Intra Energy drilling hits pegmatites, quartz veins at Maggie Hays Hill

Special Report: Intra Energy Corporation has completed a 1960m reverse circulation drill program that tested both lithium and gold targets at its high priority Maggie Hays Hill project.

The 1300m of lithium drilling intersected multiple pegmatites with combined intervals of up to 19m in several holes over a 2000m strike while quartz veins were noted in several gold-focused holes.

Intra Energy Corporation’s (ASX:IEC) lithium drilling at the project in the Lake Johnston Greenstone Belt, WA, had covered the 2.5km long southern pegmatite lithium target.

This target is a significant soil and outcrop anomaly akin to TG Metals’ (ASX:TG6) nearby Burmeister spodumene discovery.

Meanwhile, gold drilling totalling 660m tested multiple gold targets (quartz reefs) in two locations.

Quartz veins were intersected in several holes near previous drilling that returned gold mineralisation.

“Having spent 21 days in the field supervising the drilling program at the Maggies Hays Hill Project, I think the campaign has been a resounding success,” principal geologist Todd Hibberd said.

“Multiple intervals of pegmatite were intersected in most holes, with some holes containing combined intersections up to 19 metres wide.

“The gold-focused drilling was also very successful with quartz vein intervals encountered in most of the holes drilled. We are very keen to see the assay results, which should be available in early September.”

Managing director Ben Dunn added that the company was pleased with the initial geological field reports and the quantum of pegmatite and quartz intersections in the drilling.

Maggie Hays Hill nearology

The 80%-owned Maggie Hays Hill covers 49km2 of ground and consists of north-northwest trending, extensively faulted geology of mafic and ultramafic rocks prospective for lithium, nickel and gold that is just a stone’s throw away from Poseidon Nickel’s Maggie Hays nickel mine.

The project is also close to Burmeister and Charger Metals’ (ASX:CHR) Medcalf discoveries, which is the subject of a farm-in from Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO).
