An antiques and collectables business north of Toowoomba is planning a big expansion of its current store.
Salt’s Antiques lodged plans with the Toowoomba Regional Council this week to add nearly 90 sqm of extra gross floor area to the shop on Wilkes Road in Hampton.
The store sells records, collectable toys and games, bronze figures, retro items, clocks and dolls.
According to the report by Precinct Urban Planning, the extension would be used for additional storage and display of the store’s stock.
“The development site currently contains an existing shop, dwelling unit and ancillary structures which will be retained as part of the development,” the report said.
“The development will be used for additional display and storage area associated with Salt’s Antiques who currently operate from the existing shop.
“The proposed extension to the shop will involve an open display area only, with a new entry orientated towards Wilkes Road.”
The council has yet to respond to the application.
