Health professionals in high demand across Toowoomba and south west Queensland

Medical practitioners, nurses, health diagnostic and therapy professionals, legal, social and welfare professionals and automotive and engineering trade workers are among the jobs in demand across the Toowoomba and south west Queensland region.

According to job vacancy data, released by the Regional Australia Institute, there were 1906 job vacancies advertised across Toowoomba and south west Queensland in April this year.

Topping the category of vacancies were professionals, followed by technicians and trade workers, labourers, clerical and administrative workers, community and personal service workers and sales workers.

Medical practitioners and nurses are the jobs in highest demand across the region, followed closely by health diagnostic and therapy professionals.

RAI chief economist Dr Kim Houghton said regional areas of Queensland posted job vacancies not far below previous records and that Health Care and Social Assistance were the standout sectors driving labour demand in regional areas.

“While demand has increased across all occupational categories over the past year, it is demand for higher to medium-skilled occupations – from managers and professions through to trades, care and clerical workers that are the key drivers of this growth,” he said.
