‘Get over it’: Clip of bride lifting groom sparks fierce debate
A bride’s moment with her new husband at the altar is dividing social media, with some taking issue with the fact the gender roles have been reversed.
A bride scooping up her groom in one fell swoop and cradling him in her arms at the altar is going viral and people are divided over the strong act.
The couple tying the knot are Brazilian model Karoline Lauterio and her partner, Gustavo Santos, with a considerable height difference between the pair.
The footage of their altar moment is going viral on X, and Lauterio can be seen lifting her groom up from the ground.
His legs dangle in the air, and the crowd cheers as they sway together and the pair even share a romantic kiss.
The clip has been viewed over 3 million times.
The intimate moment has naturally got people talking.
Traditionally, the groom carries the bride over the threshold on their wedding night, but this bride flipped the script – and she didn’t even wait for the reception to start.
While some people online praised the sweet moment, others found it jarring, seeing a bride being able to dead lift her own husband.
One social media user said they were happy to see a “short king winning,” and others joked, “she said I got you King and meant it.”
Someone else pointed out that the groom hadn’t just secured a partner to love him for life, but also found someone capable of dead lifting him, which is quite the feat.
“Get over it. They’re having fun,” one social media user cheered.
Others weren’t so impressed by the bride’s impulsive decision.
“Hell no,” one raged.
Someone else called the bride lifting her husband up a “diabolic act”, and one admitted she’d “rather die” than ever lift up any man.
One person called the public display of affection “icky,” and another said it was “insane” behaviour.
As often happens, when a bride does anything out of the ordinary on her wedding day, the sexist commentary will follow.
Despite the fact that footage of men picking up their brides emerges from almost every wedding, some simply couldn’t stomach seeing the gender roles reserved.
“We know who is running the relationship,” one sneered.
“These women make me sick,” another wrote.
“What the hell? I’d never respect such a man,” one fumed.
