What is open in NSW, the ACT, Queensland and South Australia this October long weekend

The majority of the country has Monday off for a public holiday. This is what will and won’t be open.

Millions of people in three states and the ACT have Monday off for a public holiday.

In NSW, South Australia and the Capital Territory the long weekend is owing to Labour Day on October 7.

In Queensland Monday is a public holiday for the King’s Birthday.

Here’s what’s open for the major chains on Monday in those states and ACT:

Woolworths

In NSW, most Woolies are open. In Queensland, most are open too except Ipswich, Mt Isa Plaza, Toowong and Cloncurry. South Australians are not so lucky, with most set to be closed on Monday.

Coles

NSW and ACT stores are business as usual. Most Queensland stores are open normal hours, but some are open an extra three hours to 9pm.

Again, in South Australia, most Coles stores are closed, except: Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Berri, Port Augusta, Mount Barker, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gamier, Victor Harbor, and Rundle Place.

Aldi

Hours are store-by-store. Consumers should check the Aldi website.

Liquor

The public holiday will reduce trading hours, but when the bottle-Os actually close is varied.

Most Dan Murphy’s will be open 10am to 7pm. Most BWS stores open at 9am and close variously from 7pm to 9pm.

Detecting a theme? Most Liquorlands in South Australia will be closed on Monday.

Bunnings

Feel like knocking off some DIY on Labour Day? All Bunnings will be open, but closing time varies store-by-store.

However, the trade and distribution centres will be shut.

Big W

Most NSW, Queensland and ACT Big Ws are open, most South Australian stores are closed.
