Customers at one of the big four banks were left outraged after its app went down.

Commonwealth Bank has apologised after it restored its main banking app which went down on Tuesday evening.

Customers fumed as the Netbank app stopped working at about 8pm last night.

Customers trying to log into the app couldn’t access their accounts.

“We’re working to fix an issue affecting our services,” a notification read upon an attempt to log in.

“We’re aware some customers may be encountering difficulties with some of our services right now,” CommBank said in a statement on Tuesday.

“We are urgently investigating this and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Angry customers have taken to social media to express their frustration.

“Netbank is down … help!” one person wrote.

Another person posted: “Can’t seem to pull account balances for any accounts across CommBank App and Netbank”.

‘Apologies’: App restored

At 12.30am on Wednesday morning, CBA stated it had resolved the issue and “services are being restored”.

“We apologise to our customers who encountered difficulties accessing some of our services this evening,” Australia’s largest bank said in a statement.

“All services including the CommBank App, NetBank, CommBiz and CommSec are now available.

“Customers may experience some delays to payments.

“We thank customers for their patience.”
