Broke man claims someone spent nearly $2m from his account
A MAN woke up to find he was $1.95 million overdrawn on his account that doesn’t even have an overdraft.

AN unemployed man has told of his shock at waking up to find his bank account suddenly $A1.95 million (£1.2 million) overdrawn.
Tyler Daniels, 21, from Collingham, Essex, claims he went to bed with $A1.47 (90 pence) in his Barclays current account.
But when he woke up on February 2, he was amazed to find himself a heart-stopping $A1.95 million (£1.2 million) in the red.
And he said the most incredible thing about the situation was that his account doesn’t even have an overdraft facility.
Tyler wrote on Facebook: “I woke up to my current account overdrawn by almost £1.2 million ($A1.95 million).
“I have been on the phone to Barclays for over two hours talking to various departments including the fraud department.
“I went to my local Barclays branch to take cash out my savings account to live on while my current account was suspended.
“I was then told in branch that I couldn’t take cash out my savings account as Barclays has blocked all my accounts.”
Tyler said he is now having to live off money borrowed from his 83-year-old grandad and claims the stress of the situation is making him ill, describing it as “like a surreal nightmare”.
Speaking of the moment he saw his bank balance, he told the Mirror: “At first I didn’t see the minus sign and I thought it was my lucky day — then I realised it said I was overdrawn.
“I don’t even have a £1 ($A1.63) overdraft, never mind a seven-figure one, so how anyone’s managed to withdraw that kind of money I have no idea.”
Bank statements Tyler posted on Facebook show sums of between £200,000 ($A325,630) and £250,000 ($A407,000) being transferred out of his account.
The mysterious transactions left Tyler with a jaw-dropping balance of -£1,199,999.10 ($A1,953,772.62).
A Barclays spokesman said: “From the detail included in the mini statement, it is evident that the transactions could only have been made using login security information for the mobile banking app.
“We are carrying out a thorough investigation.”
