A murdered Israeli couple saved the lives of their 10-month-old twins by hiding them in a safe room before confronting Hamas terrorists.
Itay and Hadar Berdichevsky, both 30, placed their babies in the safe room of their home in Kfar Gaza, southern Israel, just moments before terrorists broke down their front door.
The babies were alone for almost 14 hours before Israeli soldiers found them. They are now in the care of their grandmother.
Israeli ambassador to Colombia Gali Dagan revealed details of the horror on social media: “They hid their 10-month-old twin children in the shelter while terrorists infiltrated their home. Itay and Hadar were brutally murdered after bravely fighting the terrorists.
“Imagine the horror. Two terrified parents doing everything they can to save their children, who are now orphaned. Blessed be the memory of these heroes.”
Israeli families remain shocked by the brutality of the Hamas incursion which began at dawn on Saturday with assaults that included hang-gliders and bulldozers and which claimed the lives of more than 900 Israeli citizens.
In one case, a woman discovered her grandmother had been murdered only when Hamas militants posted footage of the killing on Facebook.
Mor Bayder said: “The pillar of my life, in my family’s life. My grandmother, a resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz all her life, was yesterday in a brutal murder by a terrorist in her home.
“Seven in the morning, I saw the nightmare of my life. A terrorist came home to her, killed her, took her phone, filmed the horror and published it on her Facebook wall. This is how we found out.
“The purest thing in the world, the light of my life, my whole world, my grandmother, can’t make it real.”
Other desperately worried families have been receiving phone calls from the mobiles of their loved ones only to hear men laughing.
The Hamas militants have been uploading GoPro video and footage taken on mobile phones to social media and boasting of their actions, including tying up and beating Israeli soldiers and murdering families.
