Harry, Meghan expecting second child
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced they are expecting another baby.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting another baby.
The couple revealed the news on Valentine’s Day in the US — the same day that Princess Diana told the world 37 years ago that she was pregnant with Prince Harry. The couple released a photograph by Misan Harriman of the 39-year-old Duchess of Sussex laying on her back, cradling an obvious baby bump, while Harry looks on lovingly.
The new addition will be a sibling for Archie who turns two on May 6.
“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” a spokesperson for the couple said.
The happy news comes after the couple suffered a miscarriage last July, which Meghan revealed in an article published in November.
Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!#remoteshoot #shotonipad #shotbymisan pic.twitter.com/3iSYjydVj9

Harry, 36, is tipped to return to the UK to visit the royal family and celebrate Prince Philip’s 100th birthday in April, if coronavirus regulations allow, but it is unlikely Meghan, who already appears heavily pregnant, will travel with him. The couple had moved to the United States in a highly publicised break from the Royal Family, but have continued to attract controversy for their lucrative commercial arrangements with media giants such as Netflix.
Last week Meghan won a privacy and copyright case against Associated Newspapers, which publishes the Mail on Sunday.
The new baby will become the 8th in line to the throne.
